Immigrants a la Posada
Engraving, just like the woodblock print, is a very old technique in printmaking. Wood engravings are printed as relief and are quite different in character from engravings executed on metal, which are printed as intaglio. All engravings require very different tools than those used to create woodcuts and are capable of producing very fine and dense lines. This piece makes references to the Mexican Day of the Dead, immigration issues, the Christmas Posada and the famed Mexican printmaker Jose Guadelupe Posada.
