Austrian artist Egon Schiele was born in 1890 and was a student of Gustav Klimt. He became a victim of the 1918 flu pandemic and died very young. He was nevertheless one of the most prolific painters and influential graphic artists of his time.
The woodcut employed here is in printmaking
called a relief printing process. The woodblock measures about 56 inches tall.
